Supporting Scout Africa

The Scout Africa programme was established in 2017. Since then, Scout Volunteers have carried out projects in Southern and Eastern African countries (South Africa, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Botswana) 3 times.
Activities in Africa have become a very important field of service to our homeland and to other people.

The volunteers of Scout Africa wanted to do something for those who were hit hard by history for being Polish and whose fate was forgotten. So we undertook an attempt to restore the memory of the Siberians who, between 1942 and 1952, after leaving the USSR together with General Anders' army, found themselves in Africa and never returned from it.

The scope of Scout Africa's activities:
POLISH MEMORIALS - Finding, inventorying, restoring and protecting Polish national memorials in Africa and building awareness of the fate of exiled Poles.
VOLUNTEERING - Bringing aid to Africa's neediest people through the Scout Volunteer Service in Africa.
CARE OF STUDENTS - Building relationships and working with Zimbabwean students studying in Poland.
COOPERATION WITH POLONIA - Building relationships and jointly implementing projects with the South African Polish community.

As part of TermoProfi's funding of Scout Africa activities, one of Foundation 20's Scout Volunteers arrived in Kazungula, Zambia, to deliver an educational programme there, prepared in advance based on his aptitude, over the course of three weeks. This included, among other things:
- conducting a range of activities for children and young people to broaden their knowledge in core subjects such as, for example, mathematics, English, computing or the visual arts,
- animating children and young people's time with the motto ”learn by playing",
- using and seeking attractive forms of delivery, inspiring local education staff to be creative in their future work,
- supporting the Polish missionaries in their daily duties and work with the villagers,
- Compiling useful materials for the mission such as shoes, T-shirts, writing utensils, toys.

Scout Africa volunteers have already summed up this year's mission with some valuable figures:
